Nigerian woman reveals her remarkable transformation after being diagnosed with Bells’ palsy and high blood pressure postpartum

A Nigerian woman, Mariam Duku Agbatse, who was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy and high blood pressure after childbirth, has shared her remarkable transformation journey.

In a Facebook post shared on Saturday, June 2026, Mariam recounted her difficult pregnancy experience.

The mother of four, who was pregnant with twins at the time, said her condition became so challenging that she could not move around without the aid of a walking stick.

She also used the opportunity to encourage other mothers to embrace exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

“You see this walking stick, without it, I couldn’t move that year,” she wrote.

“This was pregnancy for twins. I wasn’t even close to delivery yet. Even though I had them at 32 weeks.

“I had high BP after this delivery. I had Bells’ palsy (half paralysis of the face)

“I had ear infection. I had them through CS. Then talk of my stomach’s elasticity.

“Goodness. If you told me I’d get myself back after carrying twins I’d punch you then.

“But look at me now. What workout, and healthy lifestyle won’t do does not exist.

“Mommas, go and pay for a gym tomorrow. Better still, take a walk na. Na beg I Dey beg o.
