An Abuja-based resident, Precious Emike, has recounted a shocking incident in which a young man allegedly set his father’s house on fire after a dispute over money.

Sharing the account on social media, she said the incident happened in her area on Saturday, April 25, 2026, after the man’s mother reportedly refused to give him money.

The situation escalated, leading to the house being set ablaze, causing panic among residents.

Precious commended the fire service for their swift response, noting that their intervention helped contain the fire and prevented further damage to nearby properties.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident.

“In my 30 something years on earth, yesterday was the first time I saw a house burning live. I’ve always seen them online,” she wrote.

“A son set his father’s house on fire and locked the house because the mum refused to give him money.

“We had 5 fire service truck in our area yesterday and one is still there till now.

“Kudos to the fire service, they really did their best.”
