After sharing details of her first-ever trip to Nigeria in December, an IJGB woman has generated significant online discussions. She claims that the experience fundamentally altered her viewpoint.

She gave a moving account of how the trip finally made it clear to her why Nigerians living abroad celebrate their country’s independence while those back home frequently wonder what there is to celebrate.

She claims that her personal experience in Nigeria made it evident that the country’s reality differs greatly from the glamour that is frequently promoted online.

She said that emergencies in Nigeria frequently mean the difference between life and death, particularly for those without money, and that poverty is overwhelming and healthcare is seriously flawed.

“There is no 911. If you’re sick or injured and you don’t have money, it’s literally a death sentence,” she said.

The lady recalled a traumatic incident where her sister was badly injured in a village bathroom accident, with shattered glass piercing her skin. They rushed her to a hospital, only to be met with what she described as a heartbreaking scene.

At the emergency unit, she said patients were lying around unattended. According to her, people who could not immediately pay were simply ignored, even while bleeding.
