“My parents rejected my house gift”- Zlatan confesses, discloses reason

Zlatan Ibile, a Nigerian artist, has talked candidly about the difficulties he had with his parents while becoming well-known in the music business.

In an interview, the musician disclosed that his parents originally questioned the source of his fortune, particularly after he gifted them his first home in 2019 at the age of 25, soon after his success.

They thought the money was connected to online fraud, he said.

My parents refused to live in the first house I bought in Lekki because they thought it was fraud money… I had to print my account statement to show them I am being honest,” Zlatan said.

Zlatan further disclosed the severity of his childhood, pointing out that his parents continued to force him to live with them as an adult.

He clarified that despite his increasing success, they imposed limitations on his way of life, such as curfews and personal preferences.

“They later told me that if they have to come, they will do a seven days prayers to confirm if it’s from God. When they finally agreed to move in, they gave me a condition that I would also live with them,” he added.

Online reactions to the disclosure have been mixed, with some praising his parents for attempting to mentor him despite his celebrity and wealth and others referring to strict African upbringing.
