My ‘biggest problem’ is that ‘nobody knows who the hell is running’ Iran – Donald Trump

According to a report by the Times of Israel on Tuesday October 6, 2026, US President Donald Trump says uncertainty over who is currently in charge of Iran has become his biggest problem as the conflict with Tehran continues.

Speaking on Tuesday, Trump said Iran’s second tier of leadership had been eliminated, leaving questions about who now holds effective control of the country.

“Their second group of leaders are gone, and the biggest problem I have is nobody knows who the hell is running the country,” Trump said.

Trump did not identify the individuals he was referring to or provide further details about the current leadership structure in Iran.

His comments come amid continued uncertainty over the direction of Iran following the military confrontation and the reported loss of senior figures in its leadership.

The remarks indicate that, alongside military developments, Washington is also grappling with uncertainty over who has authority to make decisions in Tehran and whether there is a clear leadership structure with which the United States can engage.
