Music Legend Stevie Wonder Drags Ex-Fiancée to Court to Evict Her From His House After Nearly 40 Years of Luving There Rent-Free

Music legend Stevie Wonder has reportedly sued his former flame, Carmen Efferson, seeking to evict her from a Los Angeles property he owns, where she has allegedly lived rent-free for nearly four decades.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Carmen has occupied the property since July 1988 under a verbal agreement that required no monthly rent. However, the singer believes the arrangement has come to an end.

The lawsuit claims Stevie’s representatives made several attempts during the summer to access the property for an insurance inspection, but Carmen refused to let them in.

His legal team reportedly argued that the lack of access put the property’s insurance coverage at risk. Consequently, they issued her a notice in July terminating her right to remain in the house.

According to the filing, Carmen was expected to vacate the property by August 27, but she remained there, prompting the singer to seek a court-ordered eviction.

The dispute also reportedly sparked a heated exchange between Carmen and Stevie’s legal representatives. In an email included in the court documents, Carmen accused an attorney of displaying a racist cold-blooded white male privilege tone and demanded that he stop contacting her, using several expletives in the process.

However, attorney David Huff responded that the lawyer who initially contacted Carmen was neither white nor male. He also referenced his grandfather’s involvement in the civil rights movement and warned that her refusal to permit the inspection could result in her eviction.

The singer has since moved on and has been married to his third wife, Tomeeka Robyn Bracy, since 2017.

Stevie is now asking the court to order Carmen to leave the property. He is also seeking damages and reimbursement for his legal expenses.
