





Seven members of a family were brutally m•√d£red in what police believe to be a housebreak attack in Kano’s Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters.
Fatima Abubakar, 35, and her six children were identified as the victims.
On Saturday, January 17, 2026, at around 12:10 p.m., they were allegedly att@cked by unidentified attackers who entered their home and used lethal weapons, k>.lling them all.
Shortly after the att@ck, the Kano State Police Command reportedly received a distress call and sent officers to the scene right away.
The command said in a statement that after receiving the report, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori promptly dispatched a police team to the crime scene under the direction of Lawal Mani, Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations.
The victims were evacuated and taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital in Kano, according to the police.
“The bodies were immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention, but unfortunately, they were pronounced d£•d by doctors,” the statement said.
Bakori has ordered an intensive investigation into the k!llings and directed the Cr!minal Investigation Department (CID) to unravel the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, Abdullahi Kiyawa, expressed sympathy on behalf of the command.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the deceased, the people of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, and the entire Kano State over this tragic and painful loss,” Kiyawa said.
He assured residents that the police would leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice and urged members of the public to provide any useful information that could aid the ongoing investigation.
