After a two-year journey, a Nigerian man has shared how he ultimately finished the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
The man, who went by @maaxthewave on X, described his experience as he thought back on eventually leaving the mandatory service program.
He claims that on November 1, 2023, he was first mobilized for NYSC, and on November 21 of the same year, he finished orientation camp.
However, he left the program in February 2024 to attend law school, ending his service year. He returned in November 2024 after graduating from law school and made an effort to continue his NYSC service.
He had to restart the program because of NYSC regulations. He started the process in November 2024, but it wasn’t until January 2025 that his remobilization was authorized, enabling him to formally resume.
“I first started November 1st 2023. Did camp till November 21st 2023. Dropped out (absconded) February 2024 for law school. Came back from law school November 10th 2024. Tried to restart my NYSC (as I had to start afresh) that same November. They restarted me January 2025,” he explained when queried.
