The Lagos State D0mestic and $3xual Vi0lence Agency (DSVA) has reacted to the viral case of a 28-year-old widow, simply identified as Tosin, who allegedly faced harassment and intimidation from her in-laws just eight days after the death of her husband.
In a statement released on Tuesday, July 29, the agency confirmed that it had successfully established contact with the woman, who alleged that she had been subjected to threats to her life, physical a$$ault, and intimidation following her husband’s recent passing.
According to the DSVA, Tosin also disclosed that she had already reported the matter to the Owutu Police Division.
The agency further stated that preliminary feedback from the police confirmed that the alleged perpetrator—identified in an earlier social media post by Harrison Gwamnishu as the woman’s father-in-law—has been arrested and is currently in police custody while investigations continue.
The DSVA reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to protecting the survivor and her children, adding that it is working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure justice is served in accordance with the law.
The agency also encouraged members of the public to report cases of d0mestic and $3xual vi0lence through its official reporting channels.
As investigations continue, the case has drawn widespread attention online, with many Nigerians calling for justice and the protection of widows from abu$e and intimidation.
