Lady cries out after being scammed of ₦50 million by man she met on Tinder

Following pressure from her family to settle down, a woman named Bukola has described how she was allegedly defrauded of ₦50 million by a man she met on a dating app.

Bukola claimed that in 2023, her family warned her that she couldn’t stay single indefinitely and urged her to try relationships again.

Following the advice, she downloaded Tinder and connected with a man going by the name of Alex.

Woman alleges she was defrauded by online suitor

She clarified that Alex spoke persuasively about his plans to construct a hotel and an event center and claimed to be a businessman involved in construction and building.

According to Bukola, she felt she had found a real partner to spend the rest of her life with because of his assurance and the way he publicly introduced her as his wife.

Bukola, however, claimed that after giving him money on several occasions for purported business endeavors, she eventually found out that “Alex” was not his true name and that the woman he presented as his younger sister was actually his lawfully wed wife, with whom he has three children.

Speaking emotionally, Bukola said: “After he had collected all my money, that was when I realised I had been scammed. His real name is Bankole Babalola. The woman he told me was his younger sister is his wife, and they have three kids. They scammed me of ₦50 million. I even spoke to the wife then, and she agreed she was his sister.”

She further claimed that the man had a history of scamming others as far back as 2012 and 2013, describing the experience as one of the darkest moments of her life.
