The body of Mr. Ebubechukwu Ihionu, who was reported missing in Jos, has been discovered in the Plateau State Specialist Hospital mortuary.
The body was discovered on Thursday, April 2, 2026, according to Danja Dafwam Yaks, who confirmed the tragic development in a Facebook post.
On Wednesday, April 1, amid the chaos that swept through several communities in the state’s Jos North Local Government Area, Ihionu’s family reported him missing.
The v!olence resulted from the attack at Angwan Rukuba, Jos North, on Palm Sunday.
Following the initial incident, tensions in the area increased due to fears of retaliation, which later resulted in coordinated disturbances in certain areas of Jos.
The unrest began at about 9:30 a.m. in Nasarawa area of Jos North and quickly escalated, spreading to other volatile locations including Katako Junction, Farin Gada, Gada Biu, Angwan Rogo, Rikos and adjoining communities.
The situation deteriorated rapidly as hoodlums took advantage of the tension to cause mayhem, attacking properties and attempting to ignite further v!0lence across the affected areas.
Troops drawn from Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army, Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), and other special forces, alongside personnel of sister security agencies, were immediately deployed to the flashpoints.
The swift and coordinated response helped to contain the disturbances before they could degenerate into widespread communal clashes.
