Seun Kuti, an Afrobeat artist and activist, sparks controversy after expressing his opinions on religious rituals and prayer.
Kuti has declared that he has never prayed and that he does not think prayer is beneficial.
He condemned what he called “performative religious acts,” which he defined as needless and immature public demonstrations of worship like kneeling, rolling on the ground, and yelling during prayers.
The artist claims that genuine spirituality is demonstrated in a person’s way of life rather than in external rituals.
He maintained that daily behaviour, morals, and deeds are more important than vocal prayers or outward displays of faith.
