Mercy Eke has criticised men who expect women to take on financial and leadership roles in relationships while later accusing them of being disrespectful or too bossy. Speaking on Toke Moments, she said some men want to be treated like “princesses” and chased, but resent women who become dominant after being forced to carry responsibilities.

She also said she would not date a man who earns less than she does, explaining that she has previously given money to partners and does not want to repeat the experience.

In Mercy Eke’s words: “They want to be the man and also be the woman. I think they are behaving like princesses these days. Men want to be chased. You don’t want to do the things you are supposed to do. You don’t want to be a man, you want to be a woman.”

She added: “If you want to be the woman, then I’ll take up the man’s role. You will see me become bossy. When we go out, I’ll put my card down because that’s what you want me to do. You want me to be the man, I will do it. Then they’ll feel like you don’t have respect or you’re too bossy.”

On dating someone who earns less, she said: “No, I won’t. I’ve been there, done that. I’ve given guys money, not once, not twice. They didn’t have, and I had, so I would give and share. But I don’t want to turn myself into a sugar mummy.”
