A young Nigerian innovator has unveiled a Smart AI Tracking System that will help monitor the location of people, vehicles and animals in real time.

The device was revealed on microblogging platform X by the inventor, known as Khalifa Aminu, who said he made it in his small workshop and is now seeking investors or partners to help improve and commercialise the technology.

The device uses GPS, a SIM card and artificial intelligence (AI) to track location and analyse movement patterns to detect unusual activity, he said.

Khalifa, describing the innovation, said the device offers more than regular GPS tracking.

“The AI built into it looks at normal routes of movement, looks at distances travelled and picks up on any abnormal change in location or behaviour,” he said.

“If suddenly you take the child with the tracker to a different location, it can automatically detect the unusual movement, send an alarm and send the location of the user and warn that the child may have been kidnapped,” Khalifa said.

“I have created a new device that can track anything anywhere in the world… The name of the device is Smart AI Tracking System, it uses GPS, SIM, and AI technology.

 “It is placed in children’s bags, cars, or animals so they can be tracked at any time. But that is not where its strength lies….

“The AI inside it learns the usual routes, observes distance, and detects any unusual changes. “If a child is kidnapped and taken somewhere unfamiliar…It will activate an alarm, send the location instantly and give a warning that a child has been kidnapped.

“The same applies to animals like cows. “It can detect them in real time if they are stolen or lost.

“Share it so it can reach everywhere in order to have the opportunity to improve it into a smaller size because its size is large due to the many sensors and modules inside it.”
