“If your potential father-in-law or mother-in-law doesn’t like you, don’t even try it” – Toolz says as she speaks on 10 years of marriage

Nigerian media personality Toolz has shared insights from her decade-long marriage while offering advice to women preparing for marriage.

Speaking in an interview with Morayo Afolabi-Brown, Toolz admitted that her 10-year marriage to her pilot husband has not always been easy.

She noted that couples who remain happily married for many years often do so by working through challenges together.

According to her, faith has been a major pillar of her marriage, revealing that she and her husband pray together regularly.

Toolz also praised her in-laws, describing them as the best, and disclosed that her father-in-law played a significant role in their relationship by encouraging her to marry his son and even purchasing her engagement ring.

Advising intending couples, she emphasized the importance of having a good relationship with one’s in-laws, adding that persistent disapproval from them should not be taken lightly.

She said:

> “Marriage isn’t easy. If you see anyone who has been married for 10, 15, or 20 years, that’s a big thing because they have worked through different things. There are times when you question yourself on why you are still married.

> “I dedicate my marriage to God because we pray a lot. I have the best in-laws.

> “If you aren’t married and you meet your potential in-laws and they don’t like you, don’t try it.

> “There are people who get into that situation and are like… It’s a big deal.

> “My father-in-law and my mother-in-law are like my favourite people.

> “My father-in-law asked me to marry his son and was the one who bought the ring.”
