“I was tried and convicted online without evidence” – Pastor Chris Okafor speaks out

Chris Okafor, senior pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, has urged for more stringent regulation of Nigeria’s internet sector and denounced what he called cyberbullying.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, Okafor voiced his displeasure with bloggers and internet influencers, claiming that many of them disseminate inaccurate information without providing proof or considering his point of view.

“It is so sad that most of the so-called influencers we have often connived with people to come up with fabulous lies to attract traffic to their blogs.

Many Nigerians have suffered and are still suffering from the lies of bloggers and most often, they get away with it after destroying the image of their targets,” Okafor said.

In November 2025, Nollywood actress Doris Ogala accused him of a long-term adultery, murder, and burying a head at his altar.

The pastor cited these accusations. Okafor claimed that most bloggers failed to verify the charges before publicising them.

He went on to say that even though he had been granted custody of the children in a previous divorce in 2014, his ex-wife and daughter had approached a blogger asking for N80 million for school fees and maintenance overseas.

“If, as a pastor, I can survive these lies, what happens to an average Nigerian? In the 55 years of my existence on earth, I have never been arrested for any crime or offence. It is so sad how far people can go to destroy,” Okafor added.

Okafor encouraged cyber police to track down criminals and urged the National Assembly to enact cyberspace regulations.

He promised members and Nigerians that criminals would face consequences and that the truth would ultimately prevail.
