A Nigerian guy took to social media to explain how a simple TikTok chat turned into an expensive lesson.
In a viral video posted on X (previously Twitter) by @mazi_chinonso, he described how he met a lady on TikTok and how, on the first day of conversing, she complained that she didn’t have enough data to continue the conversation.
To be kind, he asked for her phone number and subscribed her to data, following which they switched to WhatsApp.
Things, however, progressed rapidly. The man, who stated he lived in Owerri, requested if she could come meet him. She accepted, but only under the condition that he send her transportation money.
“I asked how much, she said ₦8k. I sent ₦10k,” he recounted.
Shortly after, the lady claimed to have arrived at the park and submitted a ‘see once’ video as proof. Later, she requested an additional ₦3k, increasing the amount to ₦13k.
That was the final time he heard from her.
“Till that day till now, she has not replied my messages,” he said.
Many reactions have followed the story online. One commentator wrote, “Anytime ‘transport money’ enters chat, just know you’re in danger.” Another added, “₦13k for lesson no bad, some people paid more.”
