Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has returned to the classroom, enrolling as a 200-level Law student at North-west University in Kano.
On Tuesday, the monarch was seen attending classes with fellow undergraduates at the university’s Faculty of Law, marking the beginning of his academic career.
Sanusi attended classes alongside her classmates, dressed in a black flowing costume with a white turban.
His presence generated attention on campus, with many students expressing astonishment and respect for witnessing the traditional monarch studying with them.
The Emir was been granted exceptional admission to the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme, where he will study Common and Sharia Law.
The institution acknowledged that he was admitted immediately to the 200 level.
According to the university, Sanusi’s admission was given in consideration of his extensive experience in governance, economics, and public service.
His extensive experience in national and international public issues was considered beneficial to his legal studies. Pictures of the Emir in class circulated widely on social media, prompting discussions across multiple platforms.
Many Nigerians commended his determination to continue his study despite his status and successes.
Sanusi, a PhD holder and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), is well-known for persistently championing education, reform, and intellectual engagement.
North-west University, founded in 2012, is one of two universities controlled by the Kano State Government.
The university provides programmes in a variety of subjects, including law, science, and social sciences.
The Emir’s return to school has sparked responses, with many viewing it as a meaningful message that learning knows no bounds.
