“I refused to give him my number, he sent me ₦20K” — Lady recounts hilarious encounter with man on bus

A Nigerian lady has shared a hilarious encounter with a man who allegedly sent her ₦20,000 after trying to get her contact details on a public bus.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the lady said the man initially asked for her Snapchat username, but she told him she did not have one. He subsequently requested her phone number, which she also refused to give him.

According to her, the man later offered to pay her transport fare after the conductor asked passengers to settle their fares. She said she suspected that the offer was an attempt to get her phone number.

‘This guy sent me ₦20K’

Recounting the encounter, she said:

“I was in a bus and this guy asked for my Snap. I told him I don’t have one, and then he asked for my number. I refused to give him.

Then the conductor was asking us to pay our transport. He said I should give him my Opay so he would pay for me. I knew he wanted to get my number, so I told him I’m using Moniepoint, and this guy sent me ₦20K. I know if it was his guy that asked him for that money, he would give an excuse, but he gave me ₦20K for nothing. He is an Oloriburuku (useless man).”

The story has generated amusement online, with social media users reacting to the unexpected ₦20,000 transfer and debating the man’s apparent attempt to get her contact details.
