Gbemi, the girlfriend of Nigerian comedian and MC Fish, has revealed why she resigned from her three-year job in the oil and gas industry and began building a business around her existing contacts and her partner’s career.
Speaking during a live session with media personality Daddy Freeze, Gbemi explained that she had previously worked in event planning and artist management before securing her 9-5 job.
According to her, becoming a mother eventually made it difficult for her to continue with event planning and artist management, prompting her to pursue a more structured career.

Gbemi said her growing popularity later influenced her decision to leave her oil and gas job.
She explained that rather than starting from scratch, she decided to utilise the contacts she had built through her previous work and create business opportunities around MC Fish’s career.
“I quit my three years old oil and gas job due to my newfound popularity, I left it. Prior to my 9-5 job, I was doing event planning and artist management, then I had my kid with my baby daddy, and when that happened I couldn’t continue with it.
“So what I just did is, since I have my contacts, and my baby is an MC, I started building my business around MC Fish and it’s going well.”
Gbemi’s comments highlight how her career path evolved from event planning and artist management to corporate employment and, eventually, entrepreneurship linked to the entertainment industry.
Revelation comes amid MC Fish and Anita Joseph controversy
Gbemi’s disclosure comes amid the ongoing public dispute between MC Fish and his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Anita Joseph.
MC Fish has made several allegations against Anita during the fallout between the former couple, including a claim that her use of waist trainers contributed to the loss of their child.
He has also alleged that he possesses screenshots and recorded conversations relating to Anita’s alleged dealings with an unnamed man of God.
The allegations have not been independently established, while the public disagreement between the estranged couple continues to attract attention online.
