A Nigerian woman screamed out online after sharing a frightening experience with a savings box she had been using for more than two years.

According to her, she had been continuously depositing money into the box, including financial gifts, birthday money, pounds, dollars, and thousands of naira notes, in the hopes of using the funds for something extraordinary.

“Things dey happen oo. I’ve been saving money in this safe box for two years now. If I calculate the money I’ve been putting there, it should be more than ₦1 million.”

The woman stated that she broke into the box to purchase a popcorn machine.

Despite believing she had saved almost ₦1 million, she was surprised to find only ₦12,000 inside.

“I was the one that broke it myself. There was no sign that anybody tampered with it. But when I opened it, I saw only ₦12,000. The dollars, pounds, and all the cash I kept there were gone,” she added.

The video elicited conflicting reactions on social media, with some suggesting that the box may have had a concealed opening and others playfully accusing spiritual powers of the inexplicable disappearance.

Still trying to grasp what occurred, the woman urged people not to buy savings boxes, stressing that she could not explain how such a big quantity of money supposedly went without any evident trace of tampering.
