A Nigerian woman based in Canada has shared why she decided against relocating permanently to Nigeria, revealing that she returned to Canada after spending only three months in the country.
In a video circulating online, she disclosed that her departure was so sudden that even her family was unaware she had left Nigeria until she arrived in Toronto late at night.
According to her, although she has a deep love for Nigeria and hopes to contribute to the country’s development in the future, particularly in the electricity sector, she found it difficult to adjust to the realities of daily life and concluded that it was better to observe from afar.
She said one of the things that stood out to her was how many Nigerians have adapted to challenging living conditions, adding that she “knew there was fire on the mountain” and chose to leave before the situation became overwhelming for her.
The woman further revealed that before relocating, she had encouraged several highly qualified colleagues to apply for Canadian permanent residency, but none of them took advantage of the opportunity at the time.
According to her, many of those same individuals are now seeking advice on how to relocate abroad years later, which she believes shows that people often overlook warning signs until circumstances become more difficult.
