“She wanted to abort, now they’re legally married with a second baby” — Lady shares advice that changed her roommate’s life

A lady has described how the counsel she provided her roommate during their National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program impacted the path of another women’s life, and the story has gained traction on social media.

According to the woman, her flatmate became pregnant when a fellow corps member failed to reveal that he was already in a serious relationship.

After alerting him of the pregnancy, the man reportedly disclosed that he was engaged to another woman, leaving her flatmate upset and determined to end the pregnancy.

Instead of supporting the decision, the woman stated that she encouraged her flatmate to keep the kid and confide in her mother. She explained that the chat marked a watershed moment in the events that followed.

Sharing her experience, the woman said, “During my NYSC, my roommate got pregnant for a fellow corper, the corper guy was in a serious relationship but never told my roommate. So when she broke the news to him, he told her he was engaged to someone, so my roommate decided to abort the pregnancy. I told her not to remove it, she said the guy isn’t ready to take up the responsibility but i encouraged her to keep it and she should inform her mum about it. She did, her mum was happy and warned her never to abort it. 5 years later, she’s legally married to this Corper guy with their second baby, they won’t stop thanking me for not encouraging her to abort the baby.”

The woman stated that her roommate’s mother welcomed the pregnancy and strongly pushed her daughter against terminating it, despite the uncertainty surrounding the child’s father at the time.

The account has subsequently sparked conversation on social media, with many users characterising it as a moving illustration of how life can take unexpected twists.

Others, however, pointed out that each unplanned pregnancy is unique and should not be judged only on one person’s experience.

The story continues to elicit comments from Nigerians, with many pondering on the unpredictability of relationships and the long-term influence that timely advise may have on someone’s life.
