According to Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, he still has a close and active contact with his children from his previous marriage, May Edochie, and has denied rumours that he is estranged from them.

In the midst of the former couple’s lengthy divorce processes, there have been rumours that the actor abandoned his kids.

Disagreements over the terms of the marriage dissolution, such as remarriage rights and accusations of infidelity, have reportedly caused delays in the judicial process.

During a recent podcast appearance, Edochie addressed the rumours and explained that he still supports his children financially, is involved in their life, and communicates with them on a daily basis.

He pointed to recent successes—such as one of his boys being accepted to college—as proof of their continued partnership.

The actor also blasted the stories that circulated on social media about his family’s predicament, calling them hypothetical and unrelated to his personal life.

He claims that even if there is a lot of public interest in family issues, many crucial details are never shared on social media.

Edochie went on to say that a court order related to the divorce case, which prohibits public discussion or presentation of topics pertaining to the children for their protection, is the reason for his quiet and lack of posts mentioning his kids.

He insisted that a lot of the information that is shared online about his family is inflated and inaccurate.

“I am in contact with my children. I have heard a lot of things. About people saying ‘he abandoned his children’

“My second son just got into the university months ago. He just did his matriculation a few days back. Infact, he told me a day before time, and I told him I was busy

“The people here on social media are just one per cent of the truth. The real things happening in people’s homes, the main issues, do not even come out on social media. The crux of my matter is not on social media.

“Everything people say are all speculations. Someone comes up with something and blows it out of proportion. And then they were waiting for me to come out and respond.

“People are so interested in knowing what is happening. And most of them are even having family problems. They have not solved their own problems; they want to know what is happening in another man’s.

“There is also a court order. There is a divorce case going on. That is why I cannot really speak. It says anything that has to do with the children, for their own safety, I should not post

“They said no more posting.”
