A man has sparked online debate after revealing why he walked out on his wedding day.
The story, which was originally shared on X (formerly Twitter), described how a single incident at the venue made him reconsider getting married.
Groom Cancels Wedding Over Public Outburst

According to the man, the trouble began while preparing for family photos. According to the speaker, his wife’s mother publicly chastised him for being late.
The groom claimed the way she spoke to her husband alarmed him.
“On my wedding day, my wife’s mother yelled at her husband because he was lagging behind for family pictures,” he wrote.
He said the incident made him fear for his future.
“I called my best man to the corner and told him I’m cancelling the wedding. Because if her mother can talk down on her husband in such a manner in public. I’m afraid her daughter (my wife) will do worse,” he stated.
Sudden Exit From Venue
The man explained that he created an excuse to leave the venue without raising suspicion.
“I pretended to answer a troubling call and left the venue. Told them I needed to pick up the ring,” he wrote.
He then switched off his phone.
“Turned off my phone. Till the next day. The marriage ended,” he added.
Mixed Reactions Online
The post attracted different reactions from social media users.
David wrote: “Not everyone would’ve trusted their instinct like that. Sometimes one public moment tells you everything you need to know about what the future could look like. Protecting your peace isn’t weakness, it’s wisdom.”
Values wrote: “I understand and I am sure you were right. I did want to say though that something like a wedding is stressful and some people do not react to stress well.
“Not sure we can rule them all out. We probably need to see what is underlying, which I am guessing what you did.”
Yunqpee wrote: “He doesn’t have to wait till the wedding night before seeing this in his wife to be, she must have been exhibiting this attitude and he must have been ignoring it.”
