The Nigerian Army has confirmed the d3ath of Abdulsamad Jamiu, a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), stating that he was caught in a crossfire during an operation.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Army explained that its personnel were in pursuit of fleeing armed robbers when the incident occurred. According to the statement, Jamiu was hit by stray gunfire amid the exchange, leading to his d3ath.
The development has sparked public concern and renewed conversations about the safety of civilians during security operations. While the Army maintains that the incident was unintentional, many Nigerians have called for a thorough investigation and greater accountability to prevent similar tragedies.
Abdulsamad Jamiu’s d3ath has also drawn sympathy from across the country, particularly among fellow corps members and youth groups, who have urged authorities to ensure justice and provide support to his family.
The incident highlights the risks associated with armed operations in populated areas and the need for improved strategies to safeguard innocent lives during such engagements.
