A Nigerian woman has ignited online dating conversations after explaining why she abruptly ended a two-month relationship with a man.
In a viral video circulating on X (previously Twitter) published by @Damiadenuga, she confessed that they had been conversing frequently and had even scheduled a sleepover.
She claimed she explicitly informed him she disliked scary movies and preferred tranquil, feel-good ones.
However, when she eventually arrived, the man ignored her request and showed a scary movie.
She characterised the experience as awkward and frightening, especially given that she was a visitor in his space.
The lady stated that the conduct made her feel disregarded and insulted, and that hosting someone should include fundamental consideration for their comfort.
“He knew I don’t like horror films, but he still played one and was laughing and enjoying it. That told me everything I needed to know,” she said.
The story elicited diverse comments online. While some women applauded her move, claiming it demonstrated firm boundaries, others said she overreacted because they were merely conversing.
One user commented, “If someone ignores your boundaries this early, it only gets worse later.” Another wrote, “It may look small, but respect starts with listening.”
Despite the differing viewpoints, the lady insisted that tiny behaviours reflect larger intentions, and that disregarding simple limits was sufficient reason for her to walk away.
