The lady at the center of the trending proposal drama, where her boyfriend took back a ₦24m car after she rejected him, has now shared her side.
After days of online dragging, body shaming, and harsh criticism, she released a video to clear the air, insisting that the narrative being spread online is not entirely accurate.
Addressing the controversy, she said:
“Videocard is my boyfriend, yes. He proposed to me, yes. But he never got me a car. That car is a gift from my dad for my birthday. I was the one that came up with the plan to make it look like my boyfriend got me a car. That was my idea.”
She explained that the engagement was not part of their original plan and she was surprised when he unexpectedly introduced a ring into the surprise.
We never planned for engagement. He just switched it. Yes, I love him, but I can’t accept a ring that way. How do you expect me to accept a ring using my dad’s car?” she added.
Her statement has triggered mixed reactions online. One user wrote, “Using your dad’s gift for a proposal? No wonder she said no😬. Another added, “Wonder shall never end on social media.”
Now that her explanation has been made public, the debate over who was truly to blame continues. What started as a social media stunt has evolved into a full-fledged relationship drama.
