A Nigerian man has sparked conversations on social media after sharing why his friend declined an opportunity to relocate abroad in 2022.
In a post shared on X, the man revealed that his friend was offered a caregiver job in Canada but turned it down because he wanted to complete his final-year examinations at school.
According to him, the decision did not go as planned, as his friend later discovered he had six carryover courses, forcing him to spend an extra year before eventually graduating with a pass.
He further disclosed that despite completing his studies, the friend is still unemployed.
In contrast, another person who accepted the same relocation opportunity has reportedly made significant financial progress and has already completed the construction of a hotel in Ijebu-Ide, Ogun State.
The story has since gone viral, with many social media users sharing different opinions on the difficult choices people make between education and life-changing opportunities.
Some reactions read:
Ayo Williams: “Life is full of choices, and sometimes the path we choose doesn’t turn out the way we imagined. The important thing is to learn from it, avoid living in regret, and keep building with the opportunities still ahead”.
Jay: “Education is not really a guarantee my brother”.
Queen FB: “When his time comes, basket will hold water for him”.
Damsel: “Hmmm don’t worry bigger opportunities will come for you”.
