After explaining why she plans to keep her father’s last name after marriage, a Nigerian woman sparked controversy on social media.

The woman, who complimented her father, claimed that the lack of a male child in her family was the reason behind her choice.

The woman revealed that she could hyphenate her husband’s name with her father’s surname in the widely shared video on X (formerly Twitter), and her sisters have chosen to do the same.

She says she hopes her partner will accept her decision to carry on her father’s legacy.

‎”I want to maintain my father’s surname . We are all girls in my family. I just want to keep it in remembrance that there’s a man who is so great”, She stated, while commending her father’s outstanding qualities.

‎Speaking further, the lady disclosed that  she’s aware marital crises stem from surname disagreements among couples.
