Adebayo Adelabu, Nigeria’s Minister of Power, has asked Nigerians to be patient with the current administration, assuring them that power sector reforms will soon show benefits.
Speaking at a public event, the minister urged Nigerians both at home and abroad to have faith in the government’s intentions for the electrical sector.
He stated that the reforms being done by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu are intended to enhance the electricity industry and drive growth in other sectors of the economy.
Adelabu admitted that many Nigerians are currently experiencing difficulties, particularly due to the extreme heat and electrical supply worries.
“To those there, to those at home, all Nigerians, we should have trust in this administration. It only takes little time, little patience for us to start seeing the laudable plan that Mr President has for the sector.”
According to Adelabu, the president has provided strong support for changes aimed at enhancing electricity generation, transmission, and distribution throughout the country.
He explained that the administration plans to leverage the power industry to spur growth in other parts of the economy.
“He says he wants to use this sector to drive optimal performance in other sectors,” Adelabu stated.
The minister also informed Nigerians that government measures are not intended to cause suffering, but rather to achieve long-term progress.
“Whatever we’re doing, we’re not doing it to hurt anybody,” he added, urging citizens to remain supportive while reforms continue.
