Four sentenced to de@th by hanging over Owo church att@ck

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has sentenced four men to d3ath by hanging for their roles in the June 5, 2022 att@ck on Saint Francis Catholic Church.

The convicted individuals were among five defendants standing trial on a nine-count terr0rism charge brought by the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with the church attack, which claimed the lives of 40 worshippers and left more than 100 others injured.

The attack, one of the deadliest incidents in recent Nigerian history, sparked nationwide outrage and drew international condemnation, with calls for those responsible to be brought to justice.

The four convicted men are:

Idris Abdulmalik Omeiza, 25

Al Qasim Idris, 20

Jamiu Abdulmalik, 26

Abdulhaleem Idris, 25

Meanwhile, the fifth defendant, Momoh Otuho Abubakar, 47, was discharged and acquitted by the court.

The judgment marks a significant development in the prosecution of those linked to the d3adly att@ck in Owo, which shocked the nation and prompted intensified security efforts in the aftermath.
