“Even Rema is fading” – Portable tackles Don Jazzy, questions success of former signees

Controversial musician Portable has openly chastised music entrepreneur Don Jazzy, asking why singers who quit his label, Mavin Records, reportedly stop ruling the music industry.

In a viral video, Portable encouraged Don Jazzy to “package” him and offered a future collaboration, referencing some of the label’s biggest performers.

“Don Jazzy, why is it that everyone who leaves your label don’t reign again? Come and package me and let’s partner.”

He went on to make big claims regarding the careers of several artists, including Rema and Tiwa Savage.

“Even Rema is no more reigning. Only Tiwa Savage is reigning,” he added.

This statement comes shortly after Crayon, who signed with Mavin Records in 2019, wrote a series of now-deleted social media tweets accusing Don Jazzy of being responsible for his mother’s death.

Crayon also claimed that Don Jazzy owes him outstanding royalties and that a big number of money was collected without his portion.

He further alleged that delayed payments were being used against him, and pledged to reveal the label.

Portable’s statements have provoked a range of views online, with fans arguing the contemporary importance of musicians and the role of record labels in preserving long-lasting success.
