The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of all 13 passengers aboard a commercial bus that was att@cked by k!dnappers along the Benin–Lagos Road at Ogua Community on May 13.
According to reports, the passengers were travelling from Akwa Ibom State to Lagos when armed a$sailants att@cked the vehicle, sh0t a female passenger, and abducted the occupants to an unknown location.
Following the incident, the police command reportedly launched coordinated rescue and bush-combing operations, initially rescuing five passengers, including two adults and three children, while continuing efforts to track down the k!dnappers.
The command further disclosed that through the use of drones, aerial surveillance, intelligence-led policing, and other technological support, operatives later engaged the k!dnappers in a gun battle and rescued two additional victims.
In a statement released on May 23, police spokesperson Eno Ikoedem confirmed that the remaining six abducted passengers had also been rescued unharmed.
Reacting to the development, Monday Agbonika commended the officers involved in the operation for their courage and resilience. He also assured residents that the command remains committed to apprehending those responsible, adding that intensive bush-combing operations are still ongoing.
