A wedding reception became chaotic after the groom’s mother allegedly confronted the bride’s Asoebi girls about money splashed during the ceremony.
In a viral video spreading on X (previously Twitter), the bride can be seen dancing gleefully while guests sprinkle money on her.
However, one of her Asoebi girls stepped up with a bag to assist in the collection of monies.
The groom’s mother reportedly stormed the dance floor midway through the celebration and took the bag from the Asoebi girl.
The young lady resisted, clutching it hard as the two women wrestled in public.
Guests quickly interfered to keep the fight from going further, separating the two parties as murmurs spread across the hall.
Social media users have since expressed conflicting feelings.
While some chastised the mother-in-law’s conduct, others suggested that cultural expectations concerning spraying money may have sparked the conflict.
One user wrote, “Imagine fighting over money on your son’s wedding day. Embarrassment at it’s peak”. Another commented, “Who exactly owns the sprayed money? The bride or the groom’s family?
