Deeone criticises Peter Obi over Edo incident

The former presidential candidate Peter Obi has come under fire from comedian Deeone over the February 24, 2026, incident in Benin City, Edo State.

Gunmen reportedly followed Obi’s convoy from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) office to the home of former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun in Sienna vehicles.

According to sources, the attackers opened fire as soon as the convoy arrived at the house, smashing many cars and pelting the estate gate with bullets. According to reports, Obi was already inside the building when the shooting occurred and was unharmed.

According to reports, Obi was welcoming Olumide Akpata, a former Labour Party candidate for governor, and his followers into the ADC as part of a political engagement.

In response to the incident, Deeone openly questioned the attack’s circumstances, speculating that it might have been staged for sympathy or political reasons in advance of the 2027 elections.
