Afrobeats superstar Davido has hit back at Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo after the governor mocked his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, during a political campaign rally.

The exchange began on Thursday, August 6, when Governor Okpebholo addressed supporters at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

While speaking to the crowd, the governor urged Osun residents to vote Governor Adeleke out of office, claiming that the Osun governor spends more time dancing than performing his responsibilities as the state’s chief executive.

Davido responded in the early hours of Friday through his Instagram Stories, defending his uncle by taking a swipe at Governor Okpebholo’s academic record.

The singer shared a screenshot purportedly showing the governor’s West African Examinations Council (WAEC) results, which allegedly contained several poor grades, including D7s and E8s.

Davido’s reaction has since generated widespread discussion on social media, with supporters and critics of both figures debating the exchange as political tensions ahead of the Osun governorship election continue to rise.
