Cousin responds after being dragged for serving moi moi instead of jollof rice after collecting N450k

She has spoken up after a new mother’s relative accused her of providing moi moi at her son’s naming ceremony instead of the jollof rice she supposedly paid for.

The woman refuted several of the accusations made against her and provided an explanation of what she claimed actually occurred in a long online response.

In response to the widely circulated accusations, the cousin stated that she never asserted that she combined all four chickens into the moi moi.

She claims that she prepared the dish with just one chicken.

Read what she said below;

“I normally do not engage in back-and-forth with people who clearly don’t understand what they’re talking about, but let me clear this up once.

“I never said I used all four chickens for the moin moin. What I said was that I cooked and blended one chicken into it. That’s completely different.”

The woman also stated that the original intention was for her to make moi moi, but that it was later modified to include jollof rice.

She claimed, however, that she made the moi moi because she did not notice the follow-up message alerting her to the modification.

“Secondly, we initially agreed on moin moin. It was only later that the plan changed to rice, and I honestly didn’t see that follow-up message. That’s exactly why I made the moin moin. I already apologized yesterday, both to her and to her husband, for missing the second message. What else was I supposed to do?”

The cousin responded to criticism regarding the moi moi’s contents by saying that some portions included eggs while others did not since there was not enough money to include eggs in every one of them.

Additionally, she stated that because they were relatives, she was paid ₦450,000 and did not charge a professional catering fee.

“If you look closely at the moin moin, you’ll see some have eggs while some don’t. Why? Because the money wasn’t enough to put eggs in every single one. I simply worked with the budget I was given.

“She paid me ₦450,000, yet I didn’t charge her my catering fee. Out of sisterhood, I didn’t bill her for my service because I know what I normally charge. Instead of appreciating that, I’m being dragged on a public platform.”

The woman also criticised those judging the food based on photographs, arguing that image quality did not reflect the quality of the meal.

She further expressed disappointment over being publicly called out, saying she had done a lot for her cousin and did not deserve the treatment.

She added that even the woman’s husband reportedly questioned why the issue was taken to social media.

“And please, let’s stop acting like camera quality determines food quality. If that same moin moin was snapped with an iPhone instead of a Tecno phone, some of you would suddenly start calling it ‘premium.’

“I honestly think it’s best she leaves my name out of her mouth. I’ve done far too much for her to deserve this kind of public embarrassment.

“I never expected this public call out. Even her husband that gave the money to her said it’s okay. Why bring me out in public?”
