A customary court in Kafanchan, Kaduna, has sentenced Gado Adamu, an 18-year-old boy, to five months in prison for stealing a pregnant goat.

Adamu was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon under sections 345 and 270 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.

When the charge was read to Adamu, he pleaded guilty and asked for mercy.

On March 18, presiding judge Patience Baryat sentenced Adamu to three months in prison for unlawful possession of a weapon.

She did, however, offer the convict the option of a N20,000 fine.

Ms Baryat also sentenced him to two months in prison or a fine of N10,000 for theft.
