A businesswoman has shared a troubling experience from a hospital visit, recounting how an expectant mother and her husband allegedly refused an emergency cesarean section despite medical advice.

According to Roberta Edu, she had previously seen similar stories online but never imagined witnessing such a situation in person.

She explained that the pregnant woman was carrying her first child and had gone beyond 40 weeks of pregnancy without showing signs of labour or experiencing strong contractions. By 41 weeks, the attending gynaecologist reportedly advised that an emergency cesarean section was necessary to protect the lives of both mother and baby.

However, Roberta claimed the woman’s husband rejected the recommendation, insisting that his wife was too young to undergo surgery and expressing concern that the procedure would “spoil” her.

She further alleged that although the woman was given the option to sign the consent form herself, she also declined, claiming her husband had told her the surgery would make her less attractive because he had married a young and beautiful woman and did not want her body altered by a doctor’s kn!fe.

Roberta said she chose not to interfere or attempt to persuade the couple, adding that if they were unwilling to follow the advice of qualified medical professionals, there was little more she could do.

Her account has since sparked conversations online about maternal healthcare, informed consent, and the importance of following medical recommendations during pregnancy.
