A Nigerian woman living in the United Kingdom has sparked debate online after expressing why she continues to support President Bola Tinubu despite the country’s security challenges.
In a viral video published on X (previously Twitter), she contended that insecurity and banditry did not start with Tinubu’s administration, pointing out that the problem existed for many years before he took office.
Read what she said below:
“I will touch my heart and tell you that banditry has been in existence before President Tinubu came into office.”
She further stated that many Nigerians recognise that the President is making attempts and should be given the opportunity to complete his term before being judged.
She believes that dismissing or replacing leaders too soon would not necessarily fix the country’s problems, especially when long-standing difficulties are involved.
“I’m supporting him because people say he is trying, and because the guy is there and since he is already there, let him stay and complete his eight years,” he added.
Her words elicited varied reactions online; although some Nigerians felt that Tinubu deserves more time to implement his programs and changes, others argued that citizens have every right to expect quick improvements in security and governance.
The statement has fuelled the ongoing controversy about President Tinubu’s performance, with fans and critics expressing opposing viewpoints on the country’s path.
