A Nigerian content creator has stirred an online controversy after responding to an unsubstantiated allegation claiming that FIFA may ban Senegal from competing in the 2026 World Cup following their infamous walkout during the Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco.
Adika, the content producer, came out in a comical yet critical TikTok video, condemning Senegal’s choice to leave the pitch in protest of suspected referee prejudice.
Senegal ultimately returned to finish the game, which they won 1-0 in overtime to win the AFCON trophy.
According to Adika, enabling Senegal to avoid penalty could establish a dangerous precedent for African football, where teams may feel justified in walking off the field when decisions do not go their way.
He contended that such tactics jeopardise the integrity of the game, particularly in a major championship final.
While smiling throughout the video, Adika asked FIFA to give Senegal’s possible World Cup spot to another African country if the ban is imposed, humorously suggesting Nigeria as a suitable substitute.
