“As a first daughter, do not marry a struggling man” – Lady

A Nigerian woman has expressed strong views on marital options, financial position, and family responsibility.

In a viral video, the lady stated that first daughters from low-income families should not prioritise love when choosing a husband.

According to her, such women bear tremendous responsibility for their families and should prioritise marrying someone financially secure in order to provide a better future for themselves and their younger siblings.

She questioned the example a financially unstable marriage would provide for younger family members, arguing that personal sacrifices are often required owing to familial circumstances.

The mother also expressed her opinions to men, saying that first sons who ascend from poverty to financial success should avoid marrying partners who are not financially secure.

She thought that people who had struggled and then succeeded should marry persons who are in their same financial situation.

So I really don’t give a fuss if you get pissed about what I just said. If you are a senior daughter, you have no business marrying for love. Chase the bag. Know who get the bag. Know who you go chase marry. When you get younger ones wey they look up to you. You want marry boy wey dey do vulcanizer? Wetin you want to make your younger ones marry. And also as a first son, If you are married from a family that is struggling and you later made it, never in your life settle for an hungry girl or settle for a broke girl. Am I clear? You should marry somebody that is as rich as you. You have no business getting married to a poor girl as a fair son. You know, I don’t even need to talk. Your mama will do the work. Don’t worry…”
