According to report by Time of India (TOI) on Monday 28, September 2026, In a fresh escalation, Iran’s IRGC linked FAR’s news agency reported that a naval cruise missile was fired at a vessel traveling through what tyrron described as an unauthorized route in the straight of Hormuz.
This comes just days after Thrron offered the US a plan regarding the Hormuz blockade and hostilities between the two sides. No injuries or damage were reported in the attack.
Separate reporting revealed that eight US Marines were injured in an Iranian strike in the same waterway earlier this month.
According to NBC News, citing three US sources, the Marines were aboard a non-navy vessel when it was hit by an Iranian cruise missile on September 14th.
None suffered serious injuries, but several experienced smoke inhalation and concussion-like symptoms, including headaches. All eight later returned to duty.
The Pentagon had not previously disclosed either the attack or the injuries. That omission comes amid wider scrutiny over how the US military has reported wartime casualties.
The Washington Post recently reported that at least four American service members killed since the Middle East conflict began were missing from the publicly stated casualty count.
CBS News has also reported complaints from wounded troops that serious injuries were initially described as minor.
The Pentagon strongly rejects accusations that it is deliberately downplaying casualties, saying military categories such as not seriously injured have specific technical definitions. Meanwhile, Iran is refusing to soften its demands over the Straight of Rahoo.
Foreign Minister Abbas Arachi said Sunday that Iran would not reopen the waterway unless Washington meets its conditions while insisting diplomacy remains possible.
Iran’s 7-day proposal transmitted through Qatari mediators, calls for an end to regional hostilities, the release of frozen Iranian assets, relief from oil sanctions, and an end to the US naval blockade.
Donald Trump publicly rejected the plan, arguing Iran wants the straight reopened because it is losing badly. Iraqi said Tyrron had seen Trump’s comments, but had not yet received a formal response through mediators.
