A 19-Year-Old Bride Arrested for Allegedly P0!soning Husband 40 Days After Wedding

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 19-year-old housewife, Aisha Musa, over allegations that she attempted to po!s0n her husband just 40 days after their wedding.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, in Gwamma Village, located in Bauchi Local Government Area of the state.

Police alleged that the suspect laced her husband’s meal with a po!s0nous substance before serving it to him. Authorities said they received a distress call later that day from an anonymous woman, prompting officers from the ‘C’ Division, Tafawa Balewa Estate, to respond swiftly to the scene.

The victim was immediately rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Police said he is in stable condition.

Following the incident, Aisha Musa was taken into custody. During interrogation, police said she voluntarily made a confessional statement after being cautioned.

Investigators also recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the poisonous substance, along with remnants of the contaminated food, both of which have been registered as exhibits.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Cr!minal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation. Police said the suspect will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

The Bauchi State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
