A Nigerian woman has generated outrage online after revealing the surprising moment her husband realised she was the woman he wanted to marry.

The woman, known as Christy on Facebook, described how a casual outing years ago ended up being one of the reasons her husband chose her.

She claimed that the recollection came up after they married, when she asked her husband why he chose her over other women.

She expected a romantic response but was startled by one in particular.

She remembered that during their romance, her husband took her to Silverbird in Port Harcourt to see a movie.

When they arrived, they asked for popcorn, but were told it would cost ₦800.

The woman claimed she instantly questioned the pricing and suggested they leave instead.

According to her, she advised him that the money would be better spent on food.

“I remember after I got married, one day I asked my husband:
“Please, be honest, what made you choose me?” Among all the things he listed, there was this one that nearly made me faint.
He reminded me of the day he took me to Silverbird in Port Harcourt for movie seeing, When we got there we first asked for popcorn, and they said it was N800.
Then I shouted:
“₩800 for popcorn?!” This was as far back as 2010
I turned to him and said:
“Please Honey, let’s go home, I will stop at railway market to buy things for egusi soup with that N800” .

And that was how a supposed date night turned to soup cooking night
According to my husband, that was the exact moment he said to himself
“I’ve seen my wife.”

looking back now: I feel so ashamed of myself for being stingy on somebody’s money?
A man wanted to spoil me and I was busy doing cost-benefit analysis?
Instead of enjoying popcorn and a movie, I was calculating ingredients for soup.
