Zamfara got no money, because I’m not in APC — Gov Lawal accuses FG of bias

Following the elimination of the fuel subsidy, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal has accused the Federal Government of Nigeria of denying his state palliative assistance.

Lawal asserted in an internet video that Zamfara has not benefited from federal palliative subsidies, which were established to lessen the effects of growing living expenses.

He pointed out that he is a member of an opposition party instead of the ruling All Progressives Congress and blamed the purported exclusion on political disagreements.

The governor further claimed that significant financial aid had been given to certain APC-run states to help their residents adjust to economic reforms.

I know of states that have received over 500 billion Naira from the Federal Government as palliative, but I have never received anything,” the governor said. “I think the reason I don’t get it is because I’m not in APC.”

“Despite facing significant economic and security challenges, Zamfara has had to rely entirely on its own resources to implement food distribution and welfare initiatives,” he said.

Lawal emphasised that residents shouldn’t have to endure the fallout from political rivalry and insisted that federal palliatives should be allocated fairly across all states, irrespective of political membership.
