Chelsea eased pressure following consecutive league losses and reclaimed their Champions League qualifying spots with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Sunday, igniting their Women’s Super League campaign.
The defending champions took advantage of Arsenal’s unexpected victory over Manchester City thanks to goals from Keira Walsh and Alyssa Thompson, which moved the Blues into third position with seven games left.
With an outstanding debut season under Martin Ho, Tottenham came into the match only one point behind Chelsea and got off to a strong start.
Olivia Holdt’s superb strike against the crossbar was one of the clearest chances produced by the hosts, who dominated long stretches of the first half.

Alyssa Thompson scored a decisive goal five minutes after the restart to double Chelsea’s lead and give them full control of the outcome.
Chelsea controlled the game well and shown greater poise with the ball, even though Cathinka Tandberg later squandered a clear chance to cut the gap.
The triumph follows Chelsea’s confirmation of Bompastor’s contract extension through 2030, demonstrating their long-term faith in her ability to lead.
