A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after sharing his views on marriage, children, and why he believes women have less to lose if they choose to remain unmarried.

In a video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, he argued that many men still shame unmarried women, particularly those in their 30s, despite marriage being a personal decision.

He said:

“2026, a lot of men are still thinking dumb. I’m happy women are beginning to get wiser. If a woman decides not to marry all her life and not have kids, she has nothing to lose. But if a man decides he doesn’t want to marry or have children, he will lose.”

The man explained that men often place importance on preserving their family names, properties, and legacy through their children.

Using his own family history as an example, he said he knows more about his grandfather than his grandmother, which he believes reflects how family legacies are commonly traced.

“Men build generations. A man needs someone that will live after him and retain his name. So these ones that shame women that if you’re not married in your 30s, your life is useless, Oga, woman life no dey useless,” he added.
