Community members reportedly detained a mother in Edo State’s Ovia North-East Local Government Area after she allegedly abandoned her 5-year-old child.

According to sources, the event happened when the toddler refused to walk.

It was also reported that a self-proclaimed seer in Benin City told the woman to throw the infant into a river.

Community members apparently intervened before any harm could be done to the youngster and seized the mother on the allegation.
